3CS is developing a converged services platform for feed (RSS/Atom) services called FeedHenry. FeedHenry provides information syndication solutions to network-operators and end-users. Our goal is to provide critical, timely information to users on any device. This is achieved by leveraging the streams of information that many websites are now providing through the technology of feeds (also known as RSS). The core offering consists of a scalable information store which is accessible to query and analysis systems through a Service Orientated Architecture (SOA).

FeedHenry will soon be be opening a public beta program - if you would like to register for this program, please register your interest here

This m-Mag project is an EU eTEN programme that is currently undertaking a market validation of a trans-European mobile service for SMEs called m-Mag. mMag uses the metaphor of the “mobile magazine” to simplify the process of creating mBusiness services for SMEs. An mMag mobile magazine is a next generation mobile service that is indirectly made available from a mobile operator’s portal (e.g. Vodafone Live or O2 Active), that is integrated with value added mobile data services such as Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), Short Message Service (SMS) and Location Based Services (LBS), and uses the operator’s billing capabilities to charge consumers for access to mobile services.

The mMag service is comprised of three major subsystems; a) Magazine Studio, b) Operator Integrator and c) the mMag portal. The Magazine Studio enables SME users to, through a simple set of wizards and templates create a mobile website. Through the use of the Operator Integrator the SME can add Value Added Services, such as LBS, MMS and SMS, which normally require direct network integration, to its mobile content. And through the use of the mMag portal they are able to host this content. This mMag portal is linked to numerous network operators thus providing the SME with an easy link into many networks, and providing the network operators with many services.

This project is funded through the European Commission’s eTEN programme. The project partners are Waterford Institute of Technology (Ireland), AePONA Ltd. (UK), The Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS (Germany), Telefonica I & D (Spain), Aceno Mobile Services Ltd. (Ireland), and OTEplus (Greece).

Parties involved in an IM conversation will be able to send messages in their spoken language and have them instantly translated into the native language of the recipient(s). At its most basic it will involve communicating with an automated Instant Messaging contact for phrase translation, and at its most advanced it will involve communicating with a service that acts as a mediator between parties involved in a real-time multi-protocol, multi-user, multi-language communications session.
InfinitIM advances the state of the art in IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS) based communications by developing and bringing to market a universal IMS communicator, and service deployment framework that enables Telecommunications Operators to rapidly deploy communications services and value added IMS services. InfinitIM provides:

    an application server that provides communication services, such as VoIP, Video and IM, based on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), across heterogeneous networks and platforms (PC, mobile, IPTV) and gives operators access to them through an Application Programmer’s Interface (API);

a client application, enabling these communication services (via the application server); and

a lightweight server framework that enables Communication Service Providers (CSP) to create, provision, deploy and manage these communication services through the API.

The project is funded through the European Commission Framework Programme 6 Integrated Project, Daidalos, currently in its second phase. 3CS recently demonstrated InfinitIM at 3GSM, CTIA, and GlobalComm with BEA Systems Inc.

IMIS lets eGovernment service providers present their eServices over several Instant Messaging (IM) provider networks, enabling service provision over a new cost effective communications channel, thus improving take-up of public eServices by citizens and businesses alike. This IMIS system has broad application across the European economy, but to support initial market validation of the technology the project team has focussed on validation with eGovernment service providers so that they can rapidly and cost effectively create IM Enabled eGovernment services to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of public administrations.

The VIDSHARE project will address key issues in the multimedia content delivery chain encompassing content delivery and consumption through a peer-to-peer platform that is interoperable with content provider systems and which enforces content provider’s Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) through an Intellectual Property Management and Protection (IPMP) framework. VIDSHARE is funded by Enterprise Ireland under the Commercialisation Fund - Technology Development programme.

3CS undertakes applied research that has particular relevance to Industry in the area of converged Internet and Telecommunications Services. 3CS has three major areas where it is actively working at the moment:

IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) services

Information Syndication (RSS/ATOM) systems, architectures and services

Mobile and multimedia frameworks and services.

IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) Services

The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is a standardised Next Generation Networking (NGN) architecture for

telecommunications

operators that want to provide converged services. The aim of IMS is not only to provide new services but all the services, current and future, that the Internet provides. It has at its core a 3GPP standardised implementation of SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) and support for IPv6.

3CS has a number of active IMS services projects including:

Information Syndication (RSS/ATOM) systems, architectures and services

3CS is developing a converged services platform for feed (RSS/Atom) services. This platform is called Feed Henry. Feed Henry is currently undergoing alpha testing – if you would like to register for an invitation to be a beta customer please do so here FeedHenry Beta Programme Feed Henry’s beta programme will include a feed aggregation and service delivery platform and a Web based Feed reader. Work is underway on extending feed Henry to Mobile and IPTV and also additional feed based applications.
